Going To The Beach...For Christmas.

Eclecticalu is taking a week off. This weekend, we'll be heading to the beach for Christmas, which means that there won't be new posts, during the upcoming week.

In case you feel like reading, I'm leaving a few options below.
If, on the other hand, you feel like looking at sunsets on the beach my Instagram will be a good place for that.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Time travel to the 50's. Visit Cabana Bay Beach Resort at Universal next time you go to Orlando. My kids loved it. I think they'll still remember specific things from this hotel, through the years to come.

Did you know that Atlanta's Georgia Aquarium, is one of the biggest in the world? We saw really huge fishes there!

I would recommend going to the World of Coca-Cola, only if you want to see your kids' faces beaming with happiness when they see the self-serving stations with flavors from all over the world.

Did you know I have a YouTube Channel? I uploaded 3 videos so far, but I've been enjoying the editing process so much, that I'm sure there'll be more to come. Have a look if you like!

I'll return to normality the week after Christmas with news from my trip (that was my Instagram link). Have a wonderful weekend and holidays!!

Care To Watch a Two Minute Video?

One of Eclecticalu's very first blog posts featured my DIY at-home manicure routine. It showed 10 steps necessary to achieve a salon-like manicure (pictured above).

I've been following this routine for a few years now, simply because it gets the job done quite nicely. At the time, I'd gathered information from different YouTube videos and blog posts throughout the, almost infinite, world wide web.

In the spirit of contributing my grain of sand to the inter webs (:-) I decided to simply do my part and make a video to go with that blog post.

I'm curious to know, do you like these types of videos? I found that I like editing and filming (!!). Completely new and random thing that I had never, ever considered doing before.

Thank you for your support!

What Did You Do For Fun During School Holidays?

Hello my e-pals! The end of school is lurking around here! Holidays start December 15 and my kids will be at home, without school, until the end of February! Help!

We will be traveling for a couple of weeks (I'll let you know when we do, #FollowMeonInstagram) but the rest will be FREE time! I'm always concerned with how they will be using their free time while at home. And also, how many no's I will have to utter as a response to screen time requests.

I found two very interesting articles that give ideas. I especially liked one of them which introduced the concept of traveling in your own backyard. The other article gives you a list of 101 things to do with children on holiday break, which comes very handy.  However, what I liked the most is the simplicity of what the author said before the list: give your kids chores and opportunities to do honorable work around the house. I think this revolutionary (in this day and age) and obvious idea has a lot of potential. What do you think? I'll let you know if it does.

I know that being bored is good for you from time to time when you are a kid, but I'm planning on inviting their friends to play in the pool, as much as possible. The rest can be challenging especially around the age of 11.

I would really appreciate your input here. What did you do for fun when you were a kid? What did you like about the summer holidays? What did you truly enjoy doing when school was out? Any ideas will be gratefully taken into consideration and much appreciated. Thank you!

Perfumes I Like (Part II)

As promised, here comes part 2 of my favorite perfumes. Thank you so much for your comments on part 1 I really like to know your opinion on everything!

I've been using Eternity for such a long time. Whenever I smell it, I feel like it smells like me! I started wearing it way back when I was a 17 year old exchange student in the U.S. and never stopped. Lots of great memories are attached to this scent. I think I'm on my 5th bottle. Yep! definitely a fan.

Tommy Girl, I'm sure you've heard of it, smells so interesting and calming. I wear it a lot, although this version doesn't last on me as much, may be it's because it's eau de toilette. Is there a perfume version? Do you know?

Pure Poison has been around for so long! The one on the picture is a mini version. Flora is delicious although it doesn't last! Have you ever tried any of these?

Boss Jour  and L'eau par Kenzo belong to the same category in my book. They both smell modern, fresh and clean.

Eclat d'arpege by Lanvin is another one of my favorites. I recently got it as a gift from my mom and quickly became one of my most worn. It's a classic and I wrote a separate post about it, which you can read here, if you are interested. Do you have a staple perfume? Which ones do you like?

We have a long weekend ahead. School will be closed on Monday and Tuesday here (!!?), so I foresee a bit of biking, and a lot of swimming in our pool this weekend. What are you doing this weekend?

The youngest Royal, in her first public picture, made an overwhelming fashion statement.

By the way, while I was looking at Princess Charlotte's pictures, I thought she looked a lot like her great-grandmother, the Queen, and a bit like her father William.  What do you think?

Did you know potatoes had these good-for-you qualities? I didn't.

Now that I think of it, Instagram filters sound pretty good.

I like this bag, plus it makes me proud! (Made in Argentina)

I need a dress like this. Why is it so hard to find it around here?

An lastly, a quote that I like and need to remember daily.

Have a beautiful weekend!!!

*Picture taken by my dad, again! It's from my parents' last visit to Prague. Prague's astronomical clock is the oldest in the world, that is still working.

Perfumes I Like (Part I)

The following perfumes are some of my favorites. Which one is yours?

There's something about Italian designers, clothes and perfumes. These guys seem to be naturally elegant, by birth!

Signorina, by Salvatore Ferragamo, is such a unique perfume. It's elegant but modern and oh so chic! One of my top 5. Here you can read the description.

O d`Azur, by Lancome, starts citrusy but later during the day it gets warmer. I always picture a designer-dressed, extra elegant lady whenever I smell it. Have you ever tried this one?

TrĂ©sor by Lancome is simply perfect. It's floral, fruity and partially sweet. It's been around for quite a while and it feels as if you are wearing a timeless perfume.

Have you ever tried any of these fragrances? Which one do you prefer?

Stay tuned for next week's "Perfumes I like (Part II)". I will include the perfume I started wearing way back when I was 17 (a looong time ago) and still is my favorite.

Quick Smoothie Recipe

I've replicated many delicious smoothie recipes in the past, however I don't always have all the ingredients in my kitchen. Coconut water? not a regular thing in my pantry. The same happens with quark cheese or baobab powder!

Last week, I wanted to make a smoothie and decided to blend what I had in my fruit bowl and fridge, at that specific moment. The result was pretty good and, since then, made it almost every day.

My point is that you can easily make your own smoothie, come up with different combinations, whether you have a lot of ingredients or a few. Just put yummy fruits in the blender and give it a try. One tip though. Bananas always make everything sweeter and better!

Easy right? I got my hands on some strawberries today, so... you know, I think my next smoothie will be more on the red side of the color spectrum.

What's your favorite, easy-to-make smoothie?
