Ayurveda's Natural Remedy to Get Your Voice Back: Golden Milk.

I am lucky enough to have two best friends. One of them is a Licensed Nutritionist. The other one is an Agricultural Engineer. But, we are not talking about Analia, for now.

Karina, the nutritionist, came to the rescue, a couple of weeks back, when I had no trace of voice. Not a sound. NADA. I was communicating either through whispering (which by the way is so tiring!) or random hand gestures (not very effective either).

She told me to have a cup of curcuma (also known as turmeric) milk and go to bed. "You'll be fine tomorrow" she said. Which led me to believe that she was an extremely positive person given my condition at the moment.

So I drank it, went to bed, and the next morning, my voice was back. What?! YES!

In this video you'll hear more about my friend and also you'll learn how to make this magical milk.

Please share this, save it, or remember it. It could get your voice back one day... Thank you!

Teachers Advice For Parents

A few months back, in a school gathering, teachers greeted us parents with coffee, a croissant, and this beautiful note.

When I read it I immediately felt content, and confident in that my kids were going to the right school. The note is in Spanish but I hope I will try to translate it as accurately as possible. It goes like this...

When Educating Our Children, All Exaggeration is Negative

Answer them, don't inform them.
Protect them, do not suffocate them.
Help them, do not do everything for them.
Love them, do not idolize them.
Walk by their side, don't carry them.
Show him the danger, don't frighten him.
Include them, don't cut them off.
Encourage them to dream big, don't discard their hopes and ideas.
Don't demand perfection, ask them to be good and show by example.
Don't lavish all your love to them, surround them with love.
Don't just say "go do your homework", provide a study environment.
Don't build a Castle for them, live naturally.
Don't tell her how or what they should be, be who you want them to be.
Don't live for them, live with them.
Remember, your children don't listen to you, they observe you...

I thought I'd share this because as a parent I feel that I need these reminders from time to time. Do you? Thoughts? Comments? Let me know what you think.

P.S. If you would like to read more about this particular subject. Read this article from The Guardian, it's a good one!

Feeling Grateful

As I get older I understand more and more the whys.

Why we need to follow our dreams, interests, and pursue that which we enjoy doing. There's a reason for this. Once you put passion and work into doing what you love, the outcome tends to be always even greater than you imagined.

For one, you enjoy what you do. But interestingly enough, the joy of seeing that what you do is actually beneficial for others, tends to surpass the benefits of "doing what you love because you enjoy that" part. It's way better!!

There's more to doing what you love than you may think. If you follow your interests, you will be surprisingly contributing positively to other people's well being and the ripple effect will be huge.

So, if you like to paint, paint; if you enjoy baking, bake! More likely than not, you will do it with such enthusiasm and eagerness that the results will impact powerfully over others. You never know what somebody else is going through at that moment and who knows, may be all that person needed was a delicious blueberry muffin to mitigate life ups and downs.

What Do You Stand For?

Do you have a core belief that guides your decision making?

The other day I was watching one of Evan Carmichael's videos and I never imagined what was about to happen.

Evan is the founder of Evan Carmichael Communications Group, which specializes in coaching and social media strategy for entrepreneurs.

His latest book, Your One Word, is extremely motivational and impactful. His One Word? #Believe.

I recently had the opportunity to prove that not only his channel is based on the word, #Believe, but also his team and actions.

Exhibit A:
Long story short, I left a comment in this video. Evan (whose channel is close to 1 million YouTube subscribers) answered me (close to 200 YouTube subscribers!)

Exhibit B:
Shortly after, his team sent me an e-mail asking if I wanted to read his book and give my honest review. (Whaaat?)

Exhibit C:
They sent the book, I read it, and loved it.

Final results?  I #Believe!! (background music recommended)

After reading the book you'll feel compelled to find "Your One Word" and base your business and your life around it. It explains how successful companies like Apple, Nike, and many others have a core belief, a word, that guides every action, every decision.

Before you watch my video, a warning... I may or may not have sung this song at the beginning. Already regretting it, oh well...it is what it is...enjoy and/or cover your ears. Anyhow thank you for watching!

The Most Beautiful Bookshop in The World

Last week was the last week of our Winter holidays, and I wanted to take my boys to a special place here in Buenos Aires. I wanted them to see what the city they were born in has to offer.

Although it can be challenging to compete with iPads and Play Stations, at the age of 11 and soon-to-be 13, my idea to visit this bookstore ended up being a good one. They really liked it.

It's all in this short video, enjoy!

P.S. Yes it is the most beautiful bookshop in the world, and no, I'm not biased...(may be a little bit?) The grandiosity and charm of this bookshop is due to the fact that it was built in a former theater!

A Four Minute Stroll Around Buenos Aires

Hi!  I had this footage of Buenos Aires stored in my computer decided that it would be a great way for you to see what it's like down here in the Southern Hemisphere!

I hope you like it.

Benefits of Gratitude

Did you know that practicing gratitude regularly is good for you?

Every time you are grateful -it could be for the simplest of things, like the tree I encountered a few months ago which was in full bloom!- you are contributing to your well being

Isn't it so interesting that there are psychological and physical benefits linked to gratitude? Better sleep, reduced stress, and lower blood pressure to name a few.

In this video you will see why I made a point of teaching my kids to be grateful and what simple exercises we can do to obtain all the goodness gratitude has to offer!

Thank you for watching! (See what I'm doing? I'm basically being selfish.)

Benefits of Ginger Tea

Near the end of  my weekly vlog I lost my voice! I woke up Friday morning with "that" voice and continued with my day as usual. However, little did I know that the woman that sells my kids school uniforms would be the one who'd help me with the cure! She told me that ginger tea was considered a natural remedy to get your voice back. Did you know? I didn't!

So, off I went to get my ginger tea.

As I type this post, I'm happy to report that my voice is almost fully here! So I guess it worked.

That's the scoop for today's post. If you are curious about how "that" voice sounded (not good) it's all at the end of today's vlog... Have a great week!

Do you know of any teas that help with other ailments?

Optimism Protects our Brain

As you may already know, I'm a Professional Counselor and this blog is not always about makeup, fashion and handbags. Although I really like those lovely topics, I also enjoy a psychological update from time to time.

Today I talk about optimism and how it ends up being a self fulfilling prophecy. It's a scientific fact that optimism is linked to less health problems and a longer life. If optimism is our ally why not introduce it into our daily lives.

Here's how to do so.
